About Amelia
Reading and writing have made Amelia Hooke who she is. As a child, she took endless trips to bookstores with her mother where she first learned to appreciate the scent of a fresh page. She relished her father’s impromptu bedtime stories about Billy Goat Bumpis. She and her friend wrote a prequel to Indiana Jones featuring his female cousins, Illinois and Virginia Jones.
Currently, she writes contemporary YA mysteries with supernatural elements. When not writing, Amelia is teaching high-school English, dreaming of jigsaw puzzles, and rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer over and over again.
Born in Southern California (where she still resides: she thinks anything under seventy degrees is cold), Amelia graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in English Literature. She received a Master’s in Education from Concordia University, Irvine. The series she’s writing now about a sleepy beach town with a strange secret is loosely inspired by her experiences growing up in coastal Orange County.
